The Cubs started with a heart breaking loss. The Cubs blew a 8-0 lead to lose 14-11. Not to be lost in the effort were some great performances. Especially 6 shutout innings by Rob Maerten in his first game in 26 years. And also in the top of the 9th down 6 instead of playing with our heads down, we scored 3 and had the tieing run at the plate. The Cubs defense was much inproved from last year and the offense looked great, scoring runs in all but 2 innings of the game.
