Welcome to the new home of the NJIBL and the Burlco Orioles.2012 is going to be a great year for Amatuer baseball in NJ.
The O's went to Riverton with one thing on their mind, starting the season off with a win, And boy did they!
Mark Clark threw a gem off a game, striking out 10, while the rest of the O's had his back, getting 11 hits and putting 10 runs on the board.
Newest Oriole Anthony Roth got his 1st hit as an O, driving the ball deep to left field scoring 2 insurance runs.
The Red Sox/Orioles have been around since the winter of 2003. After playing softball for a few years, I got the itch to play the REAL game again. One day, I saw an ad in the local newspaper for an adult baseball league looking for players. At first I was told, sorry, my roster is full. Then one day my phone rang, and Terry Annice was on the other end, asking if I was interested is starting a new team, and The Red Sox were born. At 1st, it was a ragtag group of players, even including a 40 year old woman. We just wanted to play ball. After 2 dismal seasons, The Sox finally gelled, even though we lost the first 4 games, we ended up going on a 12 game winning streak, to take the division with ease. Unfortunately, after losing in the playoffs, the Sox v1.0 disbanded. 3 years later, I got the itch again, and the Sox v2.0 was born. We were a few years older, but still tried to hang in the younger division, with expected results. After 2 years, I finally made the decision to move up to the +35 age bracket. The younger guys stayed down and merged with the Clayton Astros, and us older guys became the Burlco Orioles. We had a typical 1st year season, but some guys expected more and decided to find another home. After a 6-11 2012, the O's are revamped, re-hyped and restaffed! With the return or a few players, and the addition of a few new guys, The 2013 O's are raring to go....C'mon Opening Day!!!
